EchoBot presents a customized AI translation software to support communication in real time. The system is completely hands-free, which allows care staff to continue their tasks without holding a device or interrupting the interaction.

When someone speaks, EchoBot processes the audio, identifies the language, and provides an immediate translation in the resident’s preferred language. Translations are delivered in a calm, natural voice to support comprehension among older adults, including individuals with cognitive or sensory impairments. The system incorporates culturally sensitive phrasing and tone to align with person-centred communication standards in long-term care.

EchoBot can translate daily care instructions, short safety prompts, and longer conversations. Staff can activate it through simple voice commands or by selecting preset phrases commonly used in long-term care. This makes the device easy to use during busy or physically demanding care routines. 

The system also stores frequently used phrases, allowing teams to standardize communication for repeated instructions such as “please stand,” “do not bend your hip,” or “I am helping you turn to your side.” This reduces variation and helps create more consistent and safe care interactions.
